Course Description

The ITI Digital Dental Entrepreneurial Program

A practical 7-week online programme teaching dentists the real business side of dentistry — strategy, marketing, finance, leadership and growth. Delivered with the International Team for Implantology.

Most dentists are never taught the business of dentistry

Dentists spend years developing clinical skills, yet very little time learning how practices actually work as businesses. Whether you plan to own, partner or lead, understanding how successful practices operate is essential.

Rather than teaching business as theory, the programme draws on the real growth of The Campbell Clinic from £250k to £5m — real decisions, real challenges and real growth, translated into principles you can apply in your own career and practice.

The Schedule

The course spans seven weeks, beginning with an introductory week and ending with a week dedicated to finalising projects and learning content. During the five weeks in between, you will complete two projects each week, with submissions expected on Thursdays and Sundays.

We have thoughtfully designed the course to offer you a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to work around your clinical commitments. This flexibility lets you choose suitable times to engage with the course materials and complete the required tasks. The course structure helps you manage your time effectively, ensuring you can complete most of the work at your convenience.

By accommodating clinical schedules and providing flexibility, the course allows you to successfully balance your professional responsibilities while actively participating in the program. This approach will enable you to customise your learning experience and maximise your engagement with the course content.

Syllabus Highlights

The Modules:

  • Module 1: Introduction – The programme’s structure and platforms (Slack and the Online Academy), your first mini-project, and a 45-minute live webinar with Colin and the cohort.
  • Module 2: Vision Setting – Defining your future direction with ‘Start With Why’ — purpose, values, vision and a mission statement that resonates with your team and patients.
  • Module 3: Finance – A structured finance project — revenue, profitability and the financial decision-making behind long-term success.
  • Module 4: Marketing – A marketing project based on proven Campbell strategies — brand positioning, patient acquisition and visibility.
  • Module 5: Sales – Optimising the patient journey and case acceptance — communication, trust and structured consultations.
  • Module 6: HR – Building strong teams and people systems — recruitment, performance management and team communication.
  • Module 7: Leadership – The principles of leading a modern practice — leadership styles, decision-making and team culture.
  • Module 8: Strategy – Building a structured strategic plan — one- and three-year planning for continuous improvement.
  • Module 9: Business Plan – Bringing every project together into a comprehensive business plan for your own practice.
  • Module 10: Course Close & Live Webinar – Complete outstanding projects and reflect, closing with a live Zoom webinar with Colin and the faculty.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this course, participants will have an improved understanding of the following:

  • The future vision of your business – setting the long-term direction.
  • How to develop new financial structures for your business to be more financially effective, efficient, and profitable.
  • How to explore new marketing initiatives in your business, within your existing budget framework to improve new patient flow to your practice.
  • To investigate modern HR management strategies and tactics to build the best possible dental practice team.
  • How to begin to organise a proper sales system within your practice to ensure that only the minimum amount of contacts who would like to come to engage for treatment and care are lost.
  • How to plan strategically over a year (or three years) to see constant improvement in your business.
  • To investigate leadership concepts to allow you to examine and interrogate your own leadership styles.

GDC CPD outcomes:

  • A (Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk.)
  • B (Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients providing constructive leadership where appropriate.)
  • C (Maintenance and development of your knowledge and skills within your field(s) of practice)
  • D (Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in your and the dental professions and put patients’ interests first.)
