UCLan’s MSc in clinical implantology in association with VSSAcademy™ is designed to give GDPs a solid academic and practical foundation in implants.
Catering to the needs of busy practitioners through mixed online and practical learning, the MSc gives delegates the scientific background and confidence required to place and restore implants with confidence.
Patients are provided for clinical treatment, enabling every delegate to personally place an average of 4-10 implants under clinical supervision in approximately 3-4 patients over the 15 clinical days.
The course covers full CBCT training, fresh cadaver clinical training, and a digital workflow and laboratory training day, with one-to-one training and support provided throughout.
Postgraduate students have full access to UCLan’s extensive online library, so they can review all the articles they require for their studies.
Once initial training is completed, delegates have access to continuous post-learning support and mentoring to ensure the safe and effective transfer of knowledge and skills into practice. Professional relationships with mentors are maintained beyond the initial course to provide guidance and advice where necessary as delegates begin planning and placing dental implants on their own.
Syllabus Highlights
- Treatment planning and selection
- Basic sciences for implant dentistry
- Implant design and biomechanics
- Surgical skills
- Occlusion
- Restoring implants
- Bone defects
- Complications and their management
