Course Description

Diploma in Dental Implantology

The overall aim of the Diploma in Dental Implantology is to provide education and training to enable dental practitioners to practice implant dentistry to a high standard and in the best interests of the patient

Programme Objectives

  • To provide the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills that will enable them to deal with implants patients.
  • To provide an opportunity for the participants to prepare a portfolio of implant cases that must be successfully treated under the close supervision of expert clinicians.
  • To develop a Professional Development Plan in line with the GDC guidance for lifelong learning and to update this as the delegate education and competence evolves.

Learning Outcomes

  • Evaluate patients who are seeking implants as a treatment modality.
  • Formulate a treatment plan for patients.
  • Discuss and communicate to the patients the advantages and limitations of different treatment options.
  • Select the appropriate implant size based on an accurate interpretation of CBCT radiograph.
  • Place and restore implants.
  • Perform simple bone grafting procedures.
  • Apply the GDC standards to maintain safe practice.
