Course Description
This is a supplementary course which will aid participants in the detailed planning, assessment and execution of the sinus bone graft with particular emphasis on the lateral window technique.
This is an advanced course ideal for dental practitioners who have existing postgraduate knowledge in dental implantology looking to expand on their knowledge and practical skills

What is covered
- Applied anatomy of the maxillary antra
- Histology and histopathology relating to the maxillary antra
- Overview of biomaterials to use in grafting
- Soft tissue handling
- Lateral window access to the antrum
- Crestal approach to the antrum
- Dealing with intra-operative and post- operative complications of antral surgery
- Instrumentation: suggested hand instruments, use of piezon, use of surgical handpieces and the equipment necessary.
- Hands-on practice lateral approach on a deer head (more predictable than using a cadaver).
- Planning the graft with the restoration in mind. Compensating for the limitations posed by grafted sites
