Course Description

VSSAcademy provides a structured supervised clinical training pathway in implant dentistry, enabling delegates to gain hands-on experience through the placement and restoration of dental implants on suitable patients allocated within the VSSAcademy programme.

All clinical training is delivered under direct supervision within a structured mentoring environment, allowing delegates to develop their clinical skills, confidence and experience whilst treating real patients as part of their training.

In Year 1, delegates will complete Level 1 clinical training, including the placement and restoration of two dental implants on allocated patients under direct supervision. In Year 2, delegates progressing to Level 2 will place and restore ten dental implants on allocated patients under direct supervision.

Patient provision, clinical supervision and clinical governance are provided by VSSAcademy as part of its clinical training programme.

Subject to validation and approval, delegates will have the opportunity to follow a PGCert, PGDip and MSc pathway in Implant Dentistry through the Academy of Dental Excellence (ADE) and the University of Portsmouth, with qualifications awarded by the University of Portsmouth upon successful completion of the relevant academic and clinical requirements.
