Following qualification in Dentistry from the University of Glasgow in 2013, Michael undertook further postgraduate training in Oral Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry across the UK. He then achieved his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery MFDS RCPS (Glasg) qualification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

In 2017, Michael was awarded a place on the exceptionally competitive, 5-year Specialist Training Programme in Restorative Dentistry, based in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region. Patient groups treated included those requiring complex multidisciplinary care – those with Head and Neck Cancer, Hypodontia and Facial Trauma. This specialist training provided contemporary training in all monospecialties of Restorative Dentistry (Periodontics, Endodontics and Prosthodontics). Michael attained the prestigious qualifications of Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FDS(RestDent) and Membership in Periodontics (MPerio RCPSG)) in 2021.

Following completion of his comprehensive, contemporary and quality assured specialist training, Michael became a General Dental Council Registered Specialist in both Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry in September 2022.

Academically, Michael was awarded MSc(R) by the University of Glasgow for research into the outcomes of periodontal therapy. He has multiple publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, leading to international presentation of his work.

Michael is well respected within the profession, having been elected by his peers to the Dental Executive Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2018. He has a wealth of experience in the development of both national and international specialist clinical guidelines within the field of Periodontology.

Michael’s interests lie in predictable, evidence-based specialist treatment and particularly enjoys the provision of surgical periodontal therapy, dental implant supported rehabilitation and soft and hard tissue grafting.

Outside of dentistry, you’ll find Michael on the golf course, keeping fit at the gym or in the kitchen baking.
