Dr Nick Fahey
Dr Nick Fahey
After many years working in Devonshire Place and Harley Street, Nick now works solely in Woodborough House, his multidisciplinary referral practice in West Berkshire.
Nick works as a specialist prosthodontist and as such, accepts referrals related to fixed and removable prosthodontics, as well as accepting referrals and having a special interest in all aspects of dental implantology. After training in his native New Zealand, Nick studied at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute where he obtained the M.Clin.Dent degree in Prosthodontics. Nick also holds the following fellowships, the MRD RCS(Ed), FRACDS (Syd) and MFDS RCS (Eng).
As well as being focused on restoring function to his patients, Nick is an expert in delivering bio-mimetic and cosmetic dentistry. Nick’s areas of professional interest include dentistry related to the placement and restoration of dental implants and the provision of complex fixed and removable prosthodontic rehabilitations. These cases often require a multidisciplinary team approach which Nick leads.
Of particular interest has been his involvement in all aspects of digital dentistry. As a pioneer in computer guided surgery, Nick has taught a generation of dentists about guided surgery and has been a KOL in this field for many companies. Nick has literally written the book on all aspects of computer-guided surgery and guided surgical navigation for the simplification of surgical placement and restoration of dental implants. Of recent interest is Nicks pioneering work on the amalgamation of 3D facial scanning and real-time jaw movements into the planning process for complex reconstructive cases – currently Woodborough house is the only dental practice in the UK providing this service. This service is facilitated by using a range of digital records such as CBCT scans in conjunction with virtual implant planning software, intraoral scans, 3D facial scanning, Modjaw acquisitions of real-time jaw movement, 3D printing of surgical guides and guided navigation. Restorations are in the main then provided utilising intraoral scanning technology and CAD CAM laboratory solutions. Nick enjoys membership of the ADI and fellowship of the ITI, where he is also a study club director and mentor. He has presided over the London Dental Study Club and was a founding member of the New Zealand Dental Society of London. Nick is also a serving committee member and twice past president of the Reading Branch of the BDA. Nick has lectured world-wide on topics such as computer guided surgery and virtual implant planning and has authored a dental text book titled “Guided Surgery – Making Implant Placement Simpler”.
